Beat the Devil
John Huston (USA,1954)

John Huston’s Beat the Devil remains one of the classic movie spoofs. The script, by Huston and Truman Capote, is both outrageously farcical and mincingly literate in its treatment of the standard cliches of the international intrigue thriller. As the pack of Uranium swindlers and royal imposters shipwrecked off North Africa, Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, Jennifer Jones, Robert Morley, Gina Lollobrigida, and Ivor Bernard are all superb.
