E@RLY: The Sun (Part One)
February 5, 2012; 12:00 NOON; Gallery BRSVP on Facebook
Programmed by Land and Sea
Join Land and Sea in celebrating the sun! The Bay Area's own Tealchemy erects a temporary tea house in our gallery, dispensing "drinkable art" to accompany the musical experiences. Come toast cups of liquid gold as we celebrate Cha Dao, the Way of Tea. Listen to virtuoso violinist and composer Jennifer Curtis, who studied at both Mills and Juilliard, play solar compositions on her violin. Finally, "psychedelic minimalists" Date Palms (Gregg Kowalsky and Marielle Jakobsons) ease us gently into the afternoon.
Join us after E@RLY for a screening at the PFA Theater of Kinshasa Symphony (Claus Wischmann, Martin Baer), a triumphant documentary about the power of music in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Purchase a ticket for the film and get free admission to E@RLY.
L@TE is made possible in part by the continued support of the BAM/PFA Trustees. Special thanks to our media sponsors, East Bay Express and San Francisco Bay Guardian.
