Digital Media Internships
BAM/PFA offers a Video Production internship for college students interested in learning how digital media can support the educational mission of a museum and film archive.
Learning outcomes for a Video Production Intern:
- Proper camera technique
- Recording high-quality audio
- Video capture and post-production skills
- Video encoding for broadcast, the web, and Blu-ray disc
BAM/PFA Video Production Interns are expected to devote 6 to 9 hours per month to their semester-long internship. Students taking the internship for college credit may devote more hours as required by their program. Interns will be kept informed of their progress throughout their internship and will receive a letter of recommendation upon the successful completion of their internship. To apply for a BAM/PFA Video Production Internship, please contact Dave Taylor at email@example.com with a letter of intent listing your applicable skills, and links to online samples of your video production work.
PFA Library and PFA Curatorial Internships
Internships in the PFA Library and PFA Curatorial departments are available for UC Berkeley students. Each semester the PFA Library offers Film 197A. Students spend three hours per week helping to maintain PFA’s documentation files, and attend one lecture per week on research strategies and resources in cinema studies. The library internship is open to Film Studies majors, who may enroll through Telebears; instructor approval is required for non-majors. Each semester the PFA Curatorial department offers 197C, a curating internship of three hours per week, culminating in the students curating a program of student-made work from either local film schools or the UC Berkeley campus. The curatorial internship is open to Film Studies and Digital Arts majors (other students may apply); enrollment is through Telebears and instructor approval is required.
The PFA Library works closely with volunteers, who help with gathering film-related materials and maintaining the library collection. Contact Jason Sanders at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for the next volunteer training session.
The University of California, Berkeley is committed to diversity in its student body, faculty, and staff. We invite all qualified people to apply.
